PieterTjerk de Boer, PA3FWM, (University of Twente), has developed a software program called WebSDR, that serves the received radio spectrum to many users via a web page, providing a wide waterfall view and giving users the ability to tune around independently and listen to signals they are interested in.
The WebSDR system is a Software-Defined Radio receiver connected to the internet, allowing many listeners to listen and tune it simultaneously. SDR technology enables all listeners to tune independently and thus listen to different signals. This, in contrast to many classical receivers available on the internet. It is a useful program for new and experienced radio amateurs. It is usefull for monitoring radio signals as well as investigation of radio propagation. Receiving your own transmitted radio signals is widely used. Digital signals can also be received and decoded using the audio output or a vitual audio cable. |
